Future Teachers Scholarship or the American Cancer Society. PCRTA scholarship memorials
should be given to our treasurer.
In Memory of Doris Wise...
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the death of Doris Wise who passed on July
11. She was retired in 1984 after 45 years of teaching. Doris was always a generous supporter of our
PCRTA scholarship programs. Doris taught in Ravenna and was one of the featured
teachers at our 40th PCRTA anniversary celebration. She earned $600 her first year of teaching and said she sometimes
had classes of from 50-100 children. Miss Wise believed in teaching "the
basics." Her goal as a teacher was to see that every child she taught was able to read. She especially liked
to give attention to students who might pass through the system ignored and not doing as well in school. She will be dearly missed by her former students and their families, and by those connected
with the Ravenna Ballloon Afair, one of her favorite interest.
